(Updated May 10,2021) The SEDCC recognizes that this year continues to be challenging for many of our southeast Dallas students. Even though things start to look and feel more normal, the impact of the pandemic is still affecting our everyday routines. For this reason, we have decided to extend the scholarship application deadline to Friday, May 14th, 2021, at 5:00 pm. We hope that these extra days will allow more students to finalize their application packets and submit them on time.

Since 1998, the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce (SEDCC) has been awarding college scholarships to area seniors.  Again this year, we are seeking qualified students with financial need as applicants for our scholarships.

As a community, we have been blessed with tremendous support from many businesses and individuals for the Annual Southeast Dallas Community Golf Classic, presented by Dal-Tile in 2020.  This past year marked our 31st year.  The annual event provides the funding for the SEDCC scholarships.

In 2021the SEDCC will award FIVE $1,000 scholarships to a graduating senior from three DISD high schools – W. W. Samuell, Skyline, and H. Grady Spruce, and a TRIO Program participating student from one of the three high schools, and graduating senior from A+ Academy and Inspired Vision Academy. In addition, high school seniors living in the zip codes 75217 and 75227 who attend high school outside the Pleasant Grove area are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Atmos Energy Corporation, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is one of the United States' largest natural-gas-only distributors.  They have deep roots in Texas and are a great corporate partner in the community.  They have funded THREE scholarships – a tremendous gesture of support!

Chamber member Dal-Tile will sponsor TWO SEDCC scholarships.  Dal-Tile was founded in 1947 in Southeast Dallas and is the largest private employer in the area and does a tremendous amount of volunteer work and provides significant financial resources to many local civic causes.

Continental Electronics will fund ONE SEDCC Scholarship for students graduating from Skyline, Spruce and Samuell High Schools, who will major in STEM discipline.

The Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the club serving Southeast Dallas since 1950, is glad to sponsor once again ONE scholarship – "Kids need Kiwanis"!

The SEDCC will also be the organization to provide and process applications for the 9th Annual Ingram Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship sponsored by Auto City in honor and memory of businessman William Martin Ingram. Blake Ingram, owner of Auto City, will award ONE  $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from one of five Southeast Dallas high schools – A+ Academy, Inspired Vision Academy, W. W. Samuell, Skyline, and H. Grady Spruce high schools.  In addition, high school seniors living in the zip codes 75217 and 75227 who attend high school outside the Pleasant Grove area are eligible to apply for this scholarship.  Student applicants will be required to write an essay about the importance of small businesses in the local community and America.

Both the SEDCC and Ingram applications will have a separate letter to the students.  Students may apply for the SEDCC and the Ingram scholarships but will only be awarded one scholarship.

That makes 13 scholarships.  Thirteen students will have a chance to start their higher education with financial support and well wishes from their hometown business community.

Please contact Ricardo Rodriguez at 972-860-5371 or the chamber office at 214 398-9590 should you have any questions regarding these scholarships.
